Objects inspired by a forest landscape had repeating vertical elements, sometimes interwoven with one another. The forms were blown and decorated with cane; canes were also heated and draped over a metal block.

You get here, and you think everything is going to be a very clear process. But, like the creative process, it’s organized chaos – it evolves over time, you learn from it, and actually it gets better as you move through the process. It’s fine; it’s design in the making.

Yves Béhar was born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1967. Béhar came to the United States in 1990 to study at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, where he earned a B.S. in industrial design.

In 1999, Béhar founded fuseproject, a design and branding firm based in San Francisco and New York. Clients include Birkenstock, Herman Miller, MINI, Nike, Microsoft, Hussein Chalayan, Swarovski, Toshiba, Sony, One Laptop per Child (OLPC), Target, Magis, and the Coca-Cola Company. Béhar is also the chief creative officer at Jawbone, a company that designs and produces wearable audio consumer electronics.

Béhar has given talks on design at TED, the World Economic Forum in Davos, and the Clinton Global Initiative. His works are included in the permanent collections of museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Centre Pompidou and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Awards include the 2004 National Design Award from the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, New York; the 2007 INDEX: Award for the XO Laptop for One Laptop per Child, the 2009 International Design Award/ Designer of the Year, the 2010 IDSA Design of the Decade award, the 2011 INDEX: Award for See Better Learn Better, and a 2012 Wallpaper* Design Award for a Jawbone product.
